- Trim sharply: Use a clean, sharp knife (not scissors!) to cut the stems at an angle. This helps the stems absorb water properly.
- Vase hygiene: Ideally, change the water every two days and clean the vase thoroughly. Bacteria are the biggest enemy of long-lasting flowers.
- Use flower food: Always add the flower food provided by your florist to the water.
- The right climate: Roses hate drafts, direct midday sun, and dry heating air. A slightly cool spot is ideal.
- Keep them away from fruit: Never place flowers right next to a fruit bowl. Apples and bananas release ethylene gas, which causes blooms to wilt very quickly.
