The Strelitzia (Strelitzia reginae), also known as the Bird of Paradise flower, with its unmistakable form: orange petals and a blue crown petal rise from a horizontal green sheath, so the whole resembles the head of an exotic bird. Several blooms on branched stems come with strong, leathery, dark green leaves typical of the plant.
The Strelitzia is an architectural flower — it needs no further decoration because it has a strong presence on its own. It lasts unusually long in the vase, often two weeks or more.
