The Light Red Anthurium (Anthurium andraeanum) — also known as the flamingo flower — shows several bright red bracts in the photo, with a gentle orange undertone. In the centre of each flower sits a pale, cream-yellow spadix pointing upwards. The leaves are dark green, heart-shaped and glossy, with clearly visible veins.
This plant prefers a bright spot without direct midday sun. It does not like draughts or cold roots. We water it regularly but with restraint — the upper layer of soil may dry out a little between waterings. About once a week is usually enough, less in winter.
It feels especially comfortable with a little humidity. A small dish of water nearby or an occasional misting of the leaves helps, particularly in a heated living room.
With good care, the Anthurium flowers for weeks and keeps pushing out new bracts. It is a calm, long-lived companion and looks lovely on a bright dresser or windowsill.
The plant is delivered in a simple beige decorative pot, as shown in the picture. The decorative pot may differ slightly from the photo.
