An elegant Phalaenopsis orchid, also known as the Moth Orchid. In the photo you see a plant with two flowering stems in deep magenta-pink — the individual blooms have darker centres, which gives them additional depth. At the tips, closed buds wait to open.
The dark green, glossy leaves at the base are thick and leathery, typical of the Phalaenopsis. Aerial roots reach out from the stems — a healthy sign.
Phalaenopsis orchids like a bright spot away from harsh midday sun. With watering, they are modest — we briefly dip the root ball into room-temperature water once a week, let it drain, and then place it back. We avoid standing water in the decorative pot.
A flowering phase can last several months. When the blooms have faded, the plant can usually push out new shoots.
The plant is delivered in a simple beige decorative pot, as shown in the photo. The decorative pot may differ slightly from the photo.
