The Phalaenopsis, also known as the Moth Orchid, is one of the most popular indoor orchids — and for good reason. In the photo you see a plant with two flowering stems: one carries cream-white blooms with delicate yellow centres, the other shows pink blooms with darker red-brown veining and magenta lip petals. The mix gives the plant a very elegant, calm appearance.
The dark green, glossy leaves at the base of the plant are thick and leathery — typical of the Phalaenopsis. Aerial roots reach out from the stems, a healthy sign.
Phalaenopsis orchids like a bright spot away from harsh midday sun. With watering, it is very modest — we briefly dip the root ball into room-temperature water once a week, let it drain, and then place it back. We avoid standing water in the decorative pot.
A flowering phase can last several months. When the blooms have faded, the plant can usually push out new shoots.
The plant is delivered in a simple beige decorative pot, as shown in the photo. The decorative pot may differ slightly from the photo.
