The rubber plant (Ficus elastica) is a true classic — robust, stylish and a faithful companion for many years. In the photo you see a well-developed specimen with a clear trunk and a dense, rounded crown. The leaves are large, oval, in deep dark green and very glossy — almost as if polished.
At the leaf joins, the typical reddish shoot tips peek out, especially noticeable on young leaves before they turn fully green.
The rubber plant likes a bright spot away from harsh midday sun. With watering, we let the upper layer of soil dry out between waterings — it does not like waterlogging. In winter, considerably less water is needed.
The leaves enjoy an occasional wipe with a damp cloth — that keeps the gloss and always looks tidy. And do not worry if an older leaf falls off now and then: that is normal, and new leaves grow on top.
The rubber plant is delivered in a simple beige ceramic decorative pot, as shown in the photo. The decorative pot may differ slightly from the photo.
